A scratch-art project from sometime back in high school; and my very first art sale!
Actually, it was my elementary school principal who bought it, so random paradox achieved
Even more-so, the wall was inspired by something at my elementary school called the Ball-Wall, a random, approximately
15 foot high, blue brick wall in the middle of the blacktop. I loved the way it just stood there, so i figured it would be the perfect inspiration for a surrealist project
Done on metallic scratch-board. (sorry if it's kinda hard to see; the metallic effect made it hard to scan
)Summation of the Name and Image:
Originally, this was meant to be nothing more than a surrealist picture. While trying to name it, i took the time to examine deeper life within it, and what came out was this story, applicable to both life and faith:
The 3 characters gathered around the wall have known eachother since childhood, simply moving through life one day at a time, same as all of us do. Naturally, with each day came new experiences, new trials, new blessings, though they never really took notice. One day, they gathered at this same wall at which they first met, and came to a profound realization: when they were kids, they felt like they knew everything they ever needed to know about life (example: this was simply a big wall to a bunch of small kids). Now young men, they see how far they've come, being smarter, wiser, stronger..what was once youthfully mundane, recognizably simple, comfortably basic had become something more intricate, and much like themselves, something much more real and amazing...something deeper than they could have ever dreamed.
By the grace of God they saw it...and they lived it...and together, they traversed it.
And by the grace of God, they saw that it was only the beginning.
